Industry Moves

Anthropic is reportedly preparing an Opus 4.7 model, potentially dropping as soon as this week, according to The Information. The timing is notable given that the Python and TypeScript SDKs simultaneously marked Sonnet 4 and Opus 4 as deprecated in their latest releases — suggesting a generational transition is actively underway. If Opus 4.7 lands mid-week, it will be one of the faster follow-on releases in Anthropic's recent history.

Palantir is in talks to help the IRS deploy AI for smarter audit targeting, with Wired reporting that documents reveal a contract focused on flagging fraudulent clean energy credit claims. The arrangement puts enterprise AI data infrastructure squarely in the middle of federal tax enforcement — a pairing that will draw scrutiny from both civil liberties advocates and tax policy experts.

The Goodfire-linked system aims to surface rare genetic conditions earlier and more reliably than traditional workflows. If it holds up in broader clinical validation, it's the kind of application that makes the healthcare AI case more concrete than chatbot triage.


Cybersecurity & AI

The UK government's Mythos AI evaluation framework is showing real signal, with Ars Technica reporting that one model became the first AI system to complete a difficult multistep network infiltration challenge. Rather than speculate about AI cyber risk, Mythos operationalizes it — giving policymakers and defenders a grounded benchmark for what current systems can actually do.

A new pre-generation guardrail called Arc Sentry claims to block prompt injection and multi-turn jailbreaks where existing tools fall short. Claude Code Developer Corner

Claude Code v2.1.108 ships with meaningful session and caching upgrades. The headline additions:

  • 1-hour prompt cache TTL is now available via ENABLE_PROMPT_CACHING_1H across API key, Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry deployments. The old ENABLE_PROMPT_CACHING_1H_BEDROCK env var is deprecated but still honored. You can also force a 5-minute TTL with FORCE_PROMPT_CACHING_5M. Practically, the 1-hour TTL means long coding sessions will hit cache far more reliably — reducing latency and cost on repeated context.
  • Session recaps are now built in. When you return to a session, Claude Code can provide a context summary automatically. Configure it via /config, trigger it manually with /recap, or force it unconditionally with CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_AWAY_SUMMARY (useful if telemetry is disabled). This directly addresses the "where was I?" friction of async or interrupted agentic work.
  • Built-in slash commands are now discoverable and invocable by the model itself — meaning agents can navigate the command surface without human prompting.

The Claude Code desktop UI has been redesigned for parallel agentic work. A new sidebar supports parallel sessions, with drag-and-drop layout, integrated terminal, and the ability to run multiple agents from a single window. This is a significant UX shift for anyone running concurrent coding agents — no more context-switching between terminal tabs.

Community: claude-code-hermit turns Claude Code into a persistent personal assistant. A developer on r/ClaudeAI published a plugin that gives Claude Code persistent memory and learning across sessions, running up to 5 instances on a single laptop. It builds on the OpenClaw autonomous agent pattern and is worth watching for anyone exploring always-on coding assistant architectures.
