Claude Code Developer Corner
Claude Code v2.1.105 is out — and it's a meaningful release.

Worktree navigation gets smarter. The EnterWorktree tool now accepts a path parameter, letting Claude switch into an existing worktree of the current repo — not just create new ones. This is a practical quality-of-life fix for developers running multi-branch workflows or parallel agent tasks on the same repo.
PreCompact hooks can now block compaction. This is a notable control surface addition: hooks can now halt the compaction process by either exiting with code 2 or returning {"decision": "block"}. If you're using hooks to enforce context integrity or audit trails before summarization, you can now hard-stop compaction rather than just observing it.
Plugin background monitors are here. A new top-level monitors manifest key in plugins enables background monitor processes that auto-arm at session start or on skill invocation. This opens the door to plugins that maintain persistent session-level state or watch for conditions asynchronously — a meaningful step toward more autonomous plugin behavior.
/proactive is now an alias for /loop. Low-friction change, but useful for discoverability: the more semantically intuitive /proactive command now maps to the existing /loop behavior.
Stalled stream handling hardened. API streams that produce no data for 5 minutes now abort automatically. Previously, a hung stream could silently burn your token budget — which brings us to a timely warning:
Invisible token burn is a real problem. A community post documents how Claude Code can exhaust usage limits through tokens that aren't surfaced in standard audit views. Separately, a developer spending $200+/day built a TUI to visualize exactly where Claude Code tokens go, breaking costs down by task type and session activity. Until Anthropic ships better native token observability, third-party tooling like this is worth having in your workflow.
Telemetry opt-out disables experiment gates. A Reddit thread flagged a disclosure from Anthropic's Boris Cherny: disabling telemetry also removes you from experiment gating. Practically, this means telemetry-off users may miss early feature rollouts. Worth factoring into your privacy vs. capability tradeoff decision.
